Me First!!

As Christians we often find ourselves neglecting ourselves and putting others first. Well we are suppose to put others first. But I think there are times when we need to take care of ourselves. As many of you know, I am trying to lose a lot of weight, more than 100 pounds. So I’ve decided that I’ve got to do some things for myself. One of those things is to change the way I eat and snack. My biggest problem is at night. I do pretty well during the day, but at night I want to snack…and snack…and snack. So I’ve got to work on that. I’m also trying to eat better. Better food, better snacks and even better drinks. I have never liked drinking a lot water, but I’m trying very hard to drink water. I’m starting with two glasses and going to work up to 8 glasses. But to get back to my snacking. I want to eat better snacks. I was reading a fellow blogger and she was talking about putting aside snacks for herself. She decided to make baskets with her snacks in it. Here’s some pictures:

She has one basket for the cupboard and one for the fridge. I’m going to do these baskets for myself and really work on my snacking at night. With my 5K training and working on my eating, I’m hopeful that my weight loss will continue.

Is there anyone else trying to lose weight or improve their health. I’d love to hear from you. Encouraging each other can really help.

    I have one cabinet that contains my snacks. I keep nut chips and Luna/Cliff bars and peanuts. I keep hummus in the fridge and the boys know what is mine and not theirs. Like you, I snack. So my goal is to replace my usual snacks with healthier options. So long as I keep my healthy snacks in the cabinet, I make better choices. If I am hungry and don’t have the healthy options in front of me, I am more likely to make a bad food choice.

      I so agree! I think making the baskets will also help my overall weight loss goal as well. You know, keeping me motivated. My two weakest areas are snacking and exercising everyday. My first 5K is on April 20th, so I’m pretty motivated right now.
